Welcome to spectrum8.net:

Spectrum8.net is now my new and improved personal website dedicated to philosophy & existentialism. This new site will profile all the well-known existentialist philosophers, as well as serve as a place for me to showcase my own philosophical work.

This site was originally my personal website when it was first created back in 2002. It then became home to the Humanist Association of San Diego a few years later. After leaving the association, I decided to launch my own web design business. After about two years of designing websites for other businesses & people, I realized the fun had died. What began as a hobby had turned into a frustrating business.

Now I'm back to square one. However, this time around, I have the personal freedom to express my own unique ideas to the world without compromising my integrity just to make a few dollars.

News & Updates

I've been busy updating various pages within this website. There is no deadline for completion, and content will likely be changing on a pretty regular basis. I do not have any specific direction to take, so the content on this website could change drastically from one moment to the next.

It feels good to have a "home on the web" that is NOT a social networking site like Facebook or MySpace. I don't know about you, but those sites are too "cluttered" with "meaningless" and "unimportant" CRAP that really has no place on the web. But - I would not want to be a "gate-keeper", thus, I feel that people can post whatever they want. Plus, one man's "junk" is another man's "treasure". I know that some of you may regard this website as "meaningless", "crappy" or "irrelevant" and that's fine. This site exists solely for me and those who're interested in philosophy.

This website is not necessarily intended to be "ranked high" on Google or Yahoo! search engines because I know that there are many "existentialism websites" on the Internet. The Web has become a very "competitive" place, and that can be a good thing, but it can also be a bad thing. I think that the more "competition" you have, the more "difficult" it is to keep up with and have your voice heard by "the herd".

That's why this site is basically just one big "journal" for me. It's a journal that requires me to learn complicated computer junk like "JavaScript", "PHP", "CSS", "Ajax" and stuff like that. It's a "hobby" that could become a way for me to make decent money again in the future.
